Trust Director delivers keynote at Brake Fleet Champions Awards 2025

The Road Safety Trust’s Director of Communications and Engagement, Paul Steinberg, delivered the opening speech at the prestigious Fleet Champions Awards, presented by Brake, last night (25 September) at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

In a speech that combined seriousness with characteristic humour, Paul reflected on the often unseen impact of prevention and the crucial role that fleet operators play in keeping all road users safe.

He said: “In road safety, the best outcome is no collisions, no incidents, no casualties or worse still, fatalities. Yet that ‘absence’ of negative events isn’t just a fluke. It happens because of the countless actions that people like you take, day in and day out, to prevent harm before it occurs.”

The awards celebrated organisations who have implemented effective measures to manage work-related road risk, cut pollution caused by work travel, and reduce the risk of collisions across the UK’s roads.

The Road Safety Trust congratulates all the winners and nominees recognised at the 2025 Fleet Champions Awards, and commends Brake for shining a light on this important workforce who contribute immensely to road safety.
