The Road Safety Trust shares road safety insights at key June events
The Road Safety Trust took part in a number of important events in this month, using each opportunity to share insights on the Government’s new Road Safety Strategy and the wider work of the Trust and UKROEd. Through speaking engagements and event attendance, the Trust was able to engage with road safety partners as well as professionals from related sectors, helping to build understanding of the challenges facing road safety and the opportunities for collaboration to reduce death and serious injuries on our roads.
At the TyreSafe Annual Briefing on 10 June, Chief Executive Ruth Purdie OBE shared her views on the Government’s new Road Safety Strategy and provided an update on the work of The Road Safety Trust and UKROEd. Her contribution underlined the importance of tyre safety as part of a broader, system-wide approach to achieving safer roads, and highlighted the value of bringing different parts of the road safety sector together around common priorities.
At the Adult Brain Injury Conference in Manchester on 11 June, Ruth opened the event by reflecting on the Road Safety Strategy, the current road harm threat and opportunities to improve safety for all road users. Speaking to legal, healthcare and case management professionals, she also shared more about the work of The Road Safety Trust and UKROEd, helping to raise awareness of the importance of road safety across sectors and showing how road safety policy connects with the experiences of those affected by serious injury.
The Trust’s wider presence across the week also included colleagues attending Brake’s After the Crash conference with a stand, providing a further opportunity to connect with professionals working to support people affected by road crashes and to highlight the Trust’s commitment to improving road safety and post-crash understanding.
